We like to look after our guests at Hazel Brow and to help you make the most of your special time we provide you with all the facilities you’ll need. to cater for, and entertain a large group of friends and family. The house is well equipped whether you want to cook up a storm with local ingredients on the Aga cooker or get the barbeque going. Ready prepared meals are available from local chef “Lady G” or you can order a takeaway from one of the local pubs.

For the adventurous who want to explore the dale we’ve a wide range of recommended walks and maps.

Services and optional extras from hot tub hire and spa treatments to private chefs or bike hire are available – just check out our web pages from the menu above.

Inside the House

Hazel Brow House sleeps up to 15 people, has 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a downstairs W.C. and a wet room.

The sitting room and snug have open fires and are well equipped with TV’s, a blue tooth music player, games, books and maps. White table linen is provided for the dining room, along with candles and tea lights. Luxury soft towels, crisp linens and our hand crafted guests soaps are provided in the bedrooms and bathrooms.


It wouldn’t be a country retreat without an aga to cook on!


Enjoy some outdoor cooking with beautiful views, using our built-in BBQ patio area.

Ground Floor

The kitchen and pantry have ample storage space and all the modern conveniences/equipment you would expect including, fridges, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and ceramic hob plus the good old heart of the house, the oil fired Aga cooker. There are plenty of large pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. We provide sea salt, black pepper corns and Yorkshire cold pressed rapeseed oil for cooking. There’s a coffee machine and cafétier with complimentary pack of Taylors of Harrogate ground coffee, Yorkshire tea bags, biscuits and a bottle of fresh milk in the fridge just to keep you going while you wait for your grocery delivery.

Tea towels, cleaning materials and consumables such as dishwasher tablets are provided.

The kitchens was very well equipped and we did all the catering for the wedding feast and the entire stay.

Inside the house

The spacious boot room, with its excellent washing and drying facilities, has an adjoining wet room where you can shower off the outdoors. There’s a washer, tumble dryer and coat drying rack. A great space for boots, wellies, coats and the dog!

We provide soap powder, an ironing board and iron, vacuum, brush and mop.

The First floor has a double room with zip and link beds which can be either made up as single beds or a large double bed and an ensuite shower with hand basin and W.C. The 2nd bedroom has a king sized four poster bed, the 3rd bedroom has zip and link beds which can be made up as singles or large double bed, the 4th has a king size double bed and the 5th has a double bed. There are 2 family bathrooms on this floor: – the main bathroom with amazing views, shower and roll top bath and the second family bathroom, again with a roll top bath.

The Second floor offers 3 more bedrooms and a family bathroom:-  bedroom 5 with zip and link beds, a single bedroom with trundle bed (can be made as a double for 2 adults or 2 single beds but this room is not very large) and bedroom 8 has zip and link beds & ensuite bathroom. The 3rd family bathroom has a shower, hand basin and w.c.

Luxury soft towels, crisp linens and our hand crafted guest soaps are provided in the bedrooms and bathrooms. We supply of loo rolls and there’s a couple of hairdryers too.


Outside, the extensive and private garden has patios with outdoor seating and a barbeque.

We have tables, chairs and a fire pit on the front patio. The West patio has a dining table with benches and a built in barbeque. The East patio is suitable for a hot tub which can be hired from our recommended supplier. The lower lawn has an area where you can enjoy a game of croquet to ‘Hazel Brow Rules’! (Croquet set provided).

The steeply sloping lawns lead down to fields with a private footpath to the river Swale where trout fishing is available in season.

Kindling and coal for the fires can be found in the coal shed and logs for the fires and fire pits are stacked in the garage where you’ll also find charcoal for the barbeque.

The garage is lockable and suitable for a car and bikes (bike racks provided). We have off road parking for up to 5 cars.

Whilst we welcome children, you will need to keep an eye on them as there are steep terraced areas and steps.


Whilst we welcome children and can provide 2 travel cots and high chairs on request, you will need to keep an eye on them both inside and out as there are steep stair cases and stepped floor levels inside and terraced areas and steps outside.  (Cot linen is not provided).

A Wi-Fi connection is available and broadband is of at least an adequate speed for browsing the internet and accessing emails but sorry, mobile telephone signal is poor.

We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs (restricted to ground floor) Dog dishes and a dog towel are provided and we can provide a dog crate on request but please don’t allow your dogs upstairs or on the furniture. Please see our bring your dog page for more details.

Sorry we don’t allow Smoking in the house.
