The farm is now entering its fourth year of organic production. Our café has always sourced ingredients and produce locally and to organic standards where possible, but this year we decided to 'bite the bullet' and comply with full organic processing standards.

That meant that not only did we have to source all our ingredients from organic producers - from salad vegetables to salt and pepper, but we had to prove that all suppliers were registered and producing to approved standards. Inspection has been undertaken by Organic Farmers & Growers who already certify the farm produce for us.

The Café manager, Mrs Sharon Atkinson, has had a small mountain of paper work to complete and collect, faxes and emails have been buzzing about, balance sheets and procedure lists have been written and complied with and at last we have received accreditation!

Our popular home-made cakes and scones, filled rolls and hot soup, cold drinks and ice creams will still be available this season plus some great new recipes from our home-made 'haytime lemonade' to our Swaledale Shepherds pies (see the sample menu below).

We think we are the first organic café in the county and will continue to expand on the range of foods we can offer our customers. Please take a look at our menu.

 

 

Hazel Brow Shop

'Shop' is perhaps rather an ambitious word for our range of gifts & souvenirs, but the selection of goods is extensive with all ages catered for including colourful bug mobiles for the very young, and maggots in slime (very popular with small boys, but watch out for it in your slippers!). Yorkshire lavender products, gardeners gift sets and hot spiced mug mats for those of us who want to relax a little.

The café & shop are open from 11.00am - 5.00pm
5 days a week (closed Monday & Fridays except bank holidays)
